ECHL announces fine, suspension
December 5, 2012
PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL on Wednesday announced that Stockton’s Kristians Pelss has been suspended for 21 games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #230, Bakersfield at Stockton, on Dec.1.
In the first period of the game, Pelss delivered a two-handed, forceful slash, behind the play, to the face of an unsuspecting opponent, causing an injury. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.
Pelss missed Stockton’s game against Las Vegas on Dec. 4. He will miss the team’s games vs. Las Vegas (Dec. 5), at Las Vegas (Dec. 8), vs. Bakersfield (Dec. 9), at San Francisco (Dec. 13), vs. Colorado (Dec. 14 and Dec. 15), at San Francisco (Dec. 17), at Alaska (Dec. 19, Dec. 21 and Dec. 22), at Bakersfield (Dec. 27 and Dec. 28), vs. Las Vegas (Dec. 29), at Utah (Dec. 31 and Jan. 2), vs. Alaska (Jan. 4), vs. Colorado (Jan. 5) and at Colorado (Jan. 9, Jan. 11 and Jan. 12).
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.
