Not where I expected the Habs to be this season. I guess that’s what no second defense pairing, inefficient spending, and icing lineups above the cap floor on only four occasions will do.

Hiring an anglophone Mario Tremblay to coach probably didn’t help either.

And absolutely putrid luck on the PP. Only one club has a worse 5-on-5 shooting percentage than the Habs’ 5-on-4 shooting percentage. Their 5-on-4 shooting luck is worse than their 5-on-5 shooting luck of last year’s, and that was awful. The result: 8th in shot volume, dead last in PP efficiency.

And despite all this, their non-empty-net goal differential is only -3, which should normally be good for better than 27th in the league.

So many things have gone completely pear-shaped.

Would ya look at that – Edmonton at no. 1! This makes the whole rebuild pain worthwhile.

Just where I like to see the Oilers.

Shame it’s the wrong table.

Ah…. there it is.

In theory, there is little difference between practice and theory, but in practice there is!

All the injuries felt familiar but something was still missing. But now, thanks to this, the season really feels right.

Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact.

It won’t feel right until they take over the top spot.

It feels strangely comforting to see this, like a warm blanket that you later realize has cat piss on it.

Or it’s like being comfortable warm all of a sudden and realizing it’s because you’re laying in your own urine.

Wow, that was an almost Massey-an turn of phrase. Nicely done.

SNN Sports - A theoretical Oilers blog (i.e. theoretically, I write stuff there). Link now 100% less broken.
Robertson's Rants - Exceedingly occasional, lengthy ramblings on hockey topics, hosted at Puck Podcast. And no, my name's not Doug.

first time this year, n’est-ce pas?

Indeed it is. And without Huddy, Lowe or Coffey, it won’t be the last
