Oilers Call Up Josh Green And Colten Teubert

Photo

Per the Oklahoma City Barons Website:

The Edmonton Oilers recalled forward Josh Green and defenseman Colten Teubert from the Oklahoma City Barons, Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today.

Green will replace Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the lineup and Teubert will replace Tom Gilbert after both suffered injuries against the Chicago Blackhawks last night.

Nugent-Hopkins, second on the Oilers in points through 38 games, was spotted in a sling after the game last night and coach Tom Renney said he wasn't an option against the Sabres tonight after injuring his shoulder. Gilbert, the Oilers leader in ice time by nearly four minutes per game, suffered an injury to his right knee according to Renney, and is rumored to have left the building on crutches and in a leg boot.

Corey Potter will likely replace Gilbert on the Oilers' top pairing with Ladislav Smid and Sam Gagner will likely draw in on the top power play to replace Nugent-Hopkins.

Josh Green gets the call? Has Tambellini forgotten that Paajarvi is in OKC?

I kinda get it. PRV is just starting to get some traction in OKC. As much as we’d like to have him back, he’s probably better served by not getting chucked backed into this soul crushing situation. Josh Green being called up means were fully in development/process/evaluation mode.

Yeah. I know.

by David S on Jan 3, 2012 8:59 AM MST up reply actions

I agree with Ryan. Magnus is by far the best player on the Barons. In every facet of the game. Figure out a way to get the best squad on the ice. But that would be too easy.

34 - A number we should all be concerned about

Josh Green is thirtyfuckingfour!

Jeez – there are about eight other Barons who deserve this emergency recall.
Tambellini is worse at this stuff than Pierre Gauthier…………..

34? Really?

I’d really like to have 34 back but, sadly, he signed in Sweden.

I’m sorry, did I read that wrong? Smid on the top power play unit? He’s my second favourite Oiler but on the power play? Was Petr Klima busy?

by Czechboy on Jan 3, 2012 10:20 AM MST reply actions

I think you did read it wrong. Reread that last sentence with an imaginary comma after “Smid” and it’ll make more sense.

I did the same thing. The bold on the players names doesn’t help either.

All kidding aside (I hope)

…I hear Grebeshkov wants to come back to North America

by Otiepitotie on Jan 3, 2012 10:48 AM MST up reply actions   2 recs

Out of curiousity, where did you hear that? I’d bring Grebs back, no question, but I’ve got a bit of a suspicion that he’ll end up with Lokomotiv. After the plane crash, he was one of the guys who said he wanted to play for Yaroslavl, and it is his home town.

…I was watching a Predators game before Xmas and the conversation (Pete Weber) came to Denis coming back…could be bluster, but I’d take the guy in a second…

Ah, thank you! As I mentioned, I’d be happy to see him in an Oilers sweater again!

It’s not like he wanted to leave the first time, so yeah I could see him wanting to come back.

Tambellini: Denis, here is that 3.5 million dollar contract that nobody would give you at the time you left the for the KHL, but half of the league would give you now.

Man, what I would do to have grebeshkov back, he was an actual puck moving defenseman! Or I’ll settle for pitkanen from Carolina.

With these injuries, we’ll be begging for Cam Barker by the end of the season. For the love of God, get a defenseman!!

Come on Hockey Gods, make this happen! (On the other hand, wouldn’t Grebs have to clear waivers if he came to the NHL in mid-season?)

Marty McSorley looks pretty good. I say play him eight minutes a night. Of course, that would mean he couldn’t be on the Sportsnet panel. Oh dear.
