Chorney, Hartikainen, and Paajarvi Returned To Oklahoma City
The Oilers announced this morning that Taylor Chorney, Teemu Hartikainen, and Magnus Paajarvi have been assigned to the Oklahoma City Barons. With the All-Star break this weekend the Oilers don't play again until next Tuesday, so giving the Barons a roster boost as they get set to host the Houston Aeros and Texas Stars this weekend make a lot of sense.

Interesting that Paajarvi got sent down instead of Petrell. I certainly wouldn’t have bet on that.

I completely forgot about him. Very odd.

I guess they see Paajaarvi as an improvement to the Barons roster…and Petrell not so much? They can only dress so many bodies for a game I suppose.

That was my thought as well, then I thought, if Petrell isn’t a significant improvement on the Barons roster, why the hell is he in the NHL?

Agreed, but I’m not at all surprised that he didn’t get sent down.

Antero Niittymaki was officially placed on waivers
Do the Oilers pick him up and see what he can do while benching Khabby?
keep in mind, that as trade deadline approaches, those playing on an NHL roster CAN’T play in the AHL post season. apparently tambellini is banking on the success of the barons to get him that contract extension. so there’s that.

That AHL success gets the NHL GM an extension? Yeah the MSM came up with that gem on Monday.
