Lets trade Hemsky!!! Lets trade Hemsky!!!

On Saturday night a fan behind me yelled, more than a few times, "Lets trade Hemsky" presumably thinking that other fans would join in and create a deafening chant that Steve Tambellini could not ignore. The fans never did join in but to his credit he never gave up.

Late in the second period my wife, now tired of listening to him leaned over to me and said "I'd love to stand up and shout back 'Lets rebuild for 28 more years' but it just doesn't have the same ring to it." Ring or not, I wish she had.

This chat in particular reminds me of a King Missile song.

Google it if you’re inclined.

A Hemsky trade + a Tambellini extension = fan free agency

If that happens and it isn’t a Top 4 D-man coming back, consider me an RFA Fan. If that happens without the D and they sign Barker to a lengthy extension, then I’m a UFA Fan and I already spend a good bit of time in Windsor, Ontario (Red Wings not Leafs) with my wife’s family.

I was rooting for Barker when they signed, him, but re-signing him after this play this year would be insane.

If its “Let’s trade Hemsky for a legit top 4 defenceman”, sign me up. If its “Let’s trade hemsky for more draft picks”, I will take a pass.

Trades are inevitable. Its the “for what” part that matters when your team is in the lottery for the 3rd straight year.
