Which Finn can pull a Norwegian?
There is a definite love for all things Scandinavian in much of the Oil blogosphere and Finland is often the epicentre of our affection. Perhaps this can be put down to what Lowetide simply calls "The Tikkanen" factor? In any case, with three feisty Finns in training camp looking to assert their gritty play and win a place on the final roster, which (if any) of them is most likely to follow Norwegian legend Patrick Thoresen's example and surprise us all? In short, which Finn can pull a Norwegian:
Antti Tyrvainen - the agitator best known for his loud mouth and less-than-legal play
Teemu Hartikainen - the Kuopio Kid, chiseled from marble with game like bull
Lennart Petrell - the veteran defensive whiz with all the hillo you can handle.
Or is this all just a charade and by October, the Oklahoma City Barons will have created the largest Finnish population boom in the history of the city?

Finland isn’t part of Scandinavia.

Also, I said Tyrvainen because even though Teemu seems to be the better player, and the better bet over the long run, Tyrvainen seems like he’s more likely to be “tough to play against”, in that bullshit way that makes people think the deterrent power of violence and “agitators” is the same as solid defensive play.

A common misconception. Perhaps he should have said Nordic ?

Yeah, Scandanavia refers to a group of similar languages. Finnish is so whacky with all their vowels.
Scandanavia = Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Faroe Islands.

No, Scandinavia does not refer to languages. Geographically Scandinavia is the peninsula on which the states of Sweden and Norway are located. As a cultural term it also includes Denmark. Iceland and Faroe Islands are not parts of Scandinavia any more than Finland is.
My advice: just use the term “Nordic Countries” and you’re safe.

I would have said Harti before the Smyth trade. Now, who the heck knows? The not only need to play thier way on, they need to play someone else’s way off!
So, perhaps the answer lies in the question, who’s vulnerable? Brule at 4th line centre is, but can any of these three play centre? If Jones didn’t have the new deal, I would say him, but since he was just re-signed….
