Teemu Hartikainen - Your August Wallpaper

Training camp is just around the corner, but the dog days of a hockeyless summer continue.  Thanks to Oklahoma City Barons' fan and all-around outstanding photographer Candace Riley, we can introduce a new feature here at The Copper & Blue - a monthly wallpaper, straight from Candace's camera.  After the jump, a look at our first wallpaper for Barons and Oilers' fans -- Teemu Hartikainen.

High resolution version here.

And in honor of our the 9th-ranked prospect in our Top 25 Under 25, we bring you one of Teemu's favorite bands and his favorite songs from that band, Hiljaista by Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus:

It's worth noting that this is the group that drove Teemu's roommate Tyler Pitlick a little crazy during the Oilers' 2010 development camp.  Pitlick eventually asked Teemu to use his headphones when he listened to his Finnish metal and Teemu agreed.

With Lennart Petrell and Antti Tyrväinen in Oklahoma City, there's a chance that the Barons' locker room music moves towards a decidedly Finnish bent.  Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus are a long way from Hall & Oates.

Really thought that song was going to be a train wreck.

It really wasn’t that awful bad. It’s not something I’m going to be putting in my record collection, but he could’ve done a lot worse. Although at 6 AM, I might feel otherwise.

I was expecting dance-pop-euro-trance-ska-rap. Agreed, not bad at all.

The team might have found its new Janne Niinimaa. Maybe I’ll bump into him at the Black Dog or New City when he becomes a full-time Oiler.

You need to study up on Nordic music. There is a deep love of metal there.

My goal in life is now to convert a few players to western swing. I’m convinced hockey needs more honky-tonk rabble-rousers!

Oh no, the Finns go all-in, all the time with their metal. At least, every one I’ve ever talked to or had a friend talk to.

SNN Sports - A theoretical Oilers blog (i.e. theoretically, I write stuff there). Link now 100% less broken.
Robertson's Rants - Exceedingly occasional, lengthy ramblings on hockey topics, hosted at Puck Podcast. And no, my name's not Doug.

Actually, I remember a Finnish exchange student telling me that calling for “Paranoid” was the equivalent of calling for “Free Bird” over here.

Nice to see a fellow Metalhead on the Oilers. More of the Gothic-y type Metal, but still sounds good. I like TH even more now! Those Scandinavians sure love their hockey & their Metal.

Eric will have to talk to Tyrväinen about his musical tastes, but my guess is that he likes something similar.

This is a great idea. I liked this number from the Finnish band.
It would be a great feature to post more video favourites of the Oilers.
I like this one from Bjork
