First overall pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins signs three-year entry-level contract
The Oilers announced Today that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has signed a three year entry-level contract. We knew it was only a matter of time. The contract number were not reported but he is most likely going to get the same as Taylor Hall did last year. The contract will only count against the cap if he makes the team. Nugent-Hopkins was the Oilers 1st overall pick on June 24th. He is going to take part along with a much of other future Oilers in the 2011 Oilers Development Camp.
You'd have to think Nugent-Hopkins will get a fair shot to make the team this season, and why not? Apparently he's training his butt off right now and is attempting to get up to 180lbs. He's at 175lbs at this time, so he doesn't have that far to go. Keep in mind Hall was at 185lbs at the start of his rookie year, so Nugent-Hopkins' size might not be as much of an issue.
Just to note Vokoun signed with the Caps yesterday and the Oilers were one of the team in the running along with Col and Clb and the Caps.
