Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Signs Entry-Level Contract
As the Oilers prepare for their development camp, they've followed the 2010 template of signing their first overall pick to an entry-level contract before that camp beings. This means that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will have no worries of a contract negotiations hanging over his head as he enters the Oilers 2011 Prospect Development camp. Camp beings on Monday, July 4th and runs through July 9th at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park.
All eyes will be on Nugent-Hopkins because unlike Taylor Hall, the young centre has not been guaranteed a roster spot in 2011-12. No terms were announced, but the first overall pick's contract should slot in right at the same level of compensation received by Taylor Hall, John Tavares, Steven Stamkos and Patrick Kane. The rookie maximum deal, including bonuses means the overall cap hit will come in at $3.75 MM.

This is really nitpicking, but his cap hit will be $3.775 mil if he received max bonuses (which I expect were pretty much automatic).
The rookie max for 2011 draftees is $925,000, while it was $900,000 for Hall in 2010.
It’s amazing that these numbers aren’t tied to the cap at all. Rookie deals are better bargains today than they were in 2005-06 by a long shot.
