Quote That May Interest Only Me: Antti Tyrväinen is more like...
| "Ha! No! Jarkko plays more like Sami Kapanen than Tyrväinen." |
--An Sm-Liiga player's response to the question: "Does Antti Tyrväinen play like Jarkko Ruutu?"
Sami Kapanen had 175 penalty minutes in 831 games over his NHL career. Jarkko Ruutu has accumulated 1078 penalty minutes in 652 games during his NHL career. I have a difficult time getting my head around this comparison. Sami Kapanen was a regular visitor to the top of the Lady Byng totals and Ruutu is regarded as one of the dirtier players in the league.
The player admitted to two run-ins with Tyrväinenin during the 2010-11 season, so we need to take it with a grain of salt. However, we have a set of highlights from YouTube that make this take believable. If the comparison isn't pure hyperbole and Tyrväinen makes a known cheap-shot artist and agitator look like a Lady Byng candidate, or Tyrväinen can get into the conversation with Ruutu, I think Barons' fans might have a throwback to their Blazers' days on hand in Oklahoma City next season.

Just looked at that video package from the earlier post and there were at least three times I just wanted the nearest dude from the other team to grab Tyvainen and pummel the shit out of him. What an asshole.
