Oilers and Marincin Agree on a 3 Year Contract
After getting their other two second round picks from last years draft - Tyler Pitlick and Curtis Hamilton - signed to entry level deals the Oilers today closed the loop and got a deal done with Martin Marincin as well. Marincin, who is 6'5", scored 14 goals and 42 assists this season in his first year with the Prince George Cougars of the WHL. Very good numbers but his production slowed significantly in the latter stages of the season. To go with those offensive numbers Marcinin also brings a mean streak that was on full display at the World Juniors this year.
Bruce had a chance to talk to Marincin earlier this year at the Cult of Hockey about the differences between the WHL and Slovakia as well as that play at the World Juniors.

Better start locking up some of the vets on the farm, or at least plan ahead as to which AHL vets to sign on July 1st. Gonna need them if all of Marincin, Hamilton and Pitlick (if they’re not returned to junior) are gonna be on the farm, not to mention the college rookies.
Martindale, Blain (I think) and Davidson are sitting out there as well as possible Barons. It’s going to be crowded unless some trades happen to thin the herd a bit. I can see Blain going back because he missed so much of this season, but not sure if Martindale (played on the top line, did well) and Davidson (top d-man on a poor hockey club) gain much by going back for another year of junior.
