Zero, as in the number of even strength points scored by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in his second round series against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Before his series against Gatineau is used to push him even further down the draft board, it might be worthwhile to compare Sean Couturier's second-round performance to that of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Nugent-Hopkins' Red Deer Rebels lost in five games to Tyler Bunz and the fellows from Medicine Hat and Nugent-Hopkins was nearly blanked on the score sheets.
Nugent-Hopkins was held scoreless through the first four games as the Rebels fell behind 3-1 in the series. When Nugent-Hopkins finally broke through in game five, he assisted on two power play goals. For the five-game series, he scored 0 goals, and 0 even strength points. His even strength production remains a red flag.
I've read in a number of places how poor Couturier was in the World Junior Championship Tournament, and for those relying on clutch situations in extremely small sample sizes, it's worth remembering Nugent-Hopkins did not make that team, and on the WHL's biggest stage of extremely small sample sizes, he faltered.
