C&B regular Mr. DeBakey has always been a big fan of offer sheets, much like The Copper & Blue is a fan of offer sheets. His summer idea? Nab Michael Frolik from the cap-strapped Chicago Blackhawks and pay only a 2nd round pick.
I haven’t seen Michael Frolik play very many NHL games. But, as an Associate Member of the Decimal Point Diva Club of Edmonton, I’ve followed his career statistically. I like him on paper. Last night I saw him pretty good.
As of July 1, Frolik is a restricted free agent.
As of right now, the Black Hawks have $51,014,670 in Cap space committed to 8 Forwards and 6 defensemen for next year. They need to sign two goalies and seven skaters for about $10,000,000, a $1.1 Million average.
If the Oilers offered Frolik $8,400,000 over 3 years, a Cap hit of $2.8 million:
- Would he take it?
- Would the Black Hawks match?
- Would he be that capable two-way left winger for Horcoff and Hemsky?
- Is he worth a 2nd Round pick in 2012?
- Is he worth the Cap hit?
OK, good, next, what about a 1st Rounder to New Jersey for Zajac?
