An Open Letter To Ales Hemsky

That's actually what I'm writing to you about... I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but, there is something I have to point out. There seems to be a bit of smear campaign against you. Some of the media guys and bloggers are telling fans that you have no heart. They are forgetting everything you’ve been through with this team. They forget that the reason you got those injuries was because you wanted to win so badly. They think because you’re only now just starting to get healthy, and therefore have struggled a little offensively this season, that perhaps you don’t want to be in Edmonton (forgetting that you signed a long term deal at a discounted rate to stay).

--From an open letter to Ales Hemsky by Travis Dakin

I lifted the above passage from Travis' impassioned apology in advance and fan letter to Hemsky. Please follow the link to JSBM, the letter is a must read. I hope Hemsky reads it.

I hope Hemsky reads it.

So do I – that’s tremendous. Thanks for the link!

I hope those brown paper bags start appearing on fans heads on the horribly inevitable day that Hemsky is traded. I, for one, already feel ashamed and the deed hasn’t even been done yet.

I read that and imagined my favorite player, Pavel Datsyuk, in the same situation and I felt like crying.

It’s a wonderful letter.

It’s at the point where part of me wants both Hemsky and Gagner to get dealt somewhere like Detroit or San Jose so they don’t have to deal with this joke of a franchise anymore.

If Hemsky is traded for an actual, top 4, minute eating, defenceman we should be happy for the team and for Hemsky getting a fresh start. If he is traded for anything else, Lowe, Tambi and the rest of the cronies should be tossed out on thier collective asses.
