Oilers finally dusting off the ol' powerplay

What's better than having Steve MacIntyre wasting a roster spot?  Frankly, a lot of things.  But how about a great freakin' power play!

League Leaders in PP points after 1/4 of the season:

Daniel Sedin - 13

Brian Campbell - 12

Nicklas Backstrom - 12

Claude Giroux - 11

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - 11

Jason Pominville - 11

One of the nice surprises thus far for the Oilers has got to be the power play.  RNH leading the way, but wait!... it doesn't end there.  Both Hall and Horcoff also sit among the top 35 in the league in points on the PP.

Big deal, right?  Well, last season the team leader in PP points was Mr. Foster with 14.  14 all season!  The top 3 (Foster, Eberle, Hall) combined for 36 power play points all season.

This season, the top 3 (RNH, Hall, and Horcoff) have combined for 26 thus far, ten behind last year's total!

Finally, last season the team had a total of 44 goals with the man advantage.  Thus far, a quarter through, they have 19.  That is good enough for second best in the entire league.

If they keep this up then all of this talk about the Oilers getting "their show run" and out muscled will slowly fade away as the team is now finally able to make others pay for their liberties on the scoreboard
