St. Louis Claims Taylor Chorney Off Waivers

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday the club has claimed defenseman Taylor Chorney off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers. In addition, defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo has been placed on Injured Reserve after suffering an upper body injury in the second period of the Blues’ season opener on Saturday, Oct. 8 vs. Nashville. Colaiacovo will be eligible to return to the lineup this Sunday, Oct. 16 when the Blues visit the Anaheim Ducks. Chorney, 24, posted four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 12 games with the Edmonton Oilers and 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) in 46 games with the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Oklahoma City Barons last season. Overall, the 6’1, 189-pound defenseman has accumulated seven points including a goal and six assists in 56 career NHL games with Edmonton. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native was originally drafted by Edmonton in the second round, 36th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. *** Quick, someone check the panic room for Tambellini.
