Anyone like a chance at a free copy of NHL 11?

Large-rectangle2_4_medium

Click the above image to register, then we'll be able to determine the size of the tournament.

What's that? You do? Well wouldn't you know it, but The Copper & Blue has been contacted by RivalSpot, a company that runs video game tournaments, and they asked if any of our readers might be interested. RivalSpot has previously run successful tournaments with the fine folks at Pension Plan Puppets and Nucks Misconduct. The prize for our free online tournament would be the same as it was for those SB Nation friends: a free to you, brand new, shiny copy of EA sports NHL 11.

At this point I am going to thank both of these sites for their work, as I am using their same format for this post, with their permission of course.

Star-divide

If you're interested, this is what I'm asking you to do:

  1. Click the above image to register even though we don't have a tournament yet. This will give us an indication of how much interest we have, and if there is an interest in more than one tournament.
  2. Post in the comment section below what system you want to play NHL 10 on and a general idea of when would be a good time for you to play. For example, Sundays, weekends, evenings.
  3. If this is something you really don't want to see here, or you have any other comments please send me an email and let me know.

Right now we are just trying to gather information and gauge interest. I am open to any and all comments and suggestions.

We don't feel that we need a disclaimer, but wouldn't want to have any questions arise as to the nature of the tournament.  This tournament is not a fundraiser of any sorts for The Copper & Blue and we get nothing from it.  We could have gone down that path, but we chose not to.  We simply wanted to give our readers a chance to connect and have some online NHL gaming fun.  Enjoy.

Registered and interested...

I’d be able to play afternoons and weekends for sure. Schedule will open up slightly more after September 3.

I listen to five gaming podcasts a week and am highly active in the hockey blogosphere.

I haven’t owned an NHL game in about five years. Figure that out. (And yes, I do own an Xbox 360.)

Heh, if I had NHL 10, I might be, but then I’d have to learn how to play it and stuff, and I’m way too busy with StarCraft II to do that. ;)

Doogz...

…NHL11 has the licensing for the entire CHL. You’d be able to play as the Hitmen.

Just FYI ;)

Dude, I know. I posted that on one of my gaming forums. They even included the Hitmen in the screenshots, because they were at the Memorial Cup.

But seriously, if you saw my backlog, you would understand why I wouldn’t want to get into the timesink that EA’s recent NHL games have been reputed to be.

I agree with these sentiments. I’m on my 4th Be A Pro season on NHL 09 now, and it NEVER gets old. In fact, I’m going to play it right now.
