Contract Numbers Official
The Oilers have signed a bunch of contracts in the last few days and capgeek.com has most of the details. Taylor Hall, received the maximum rookie contract ($0.9M in salary and signing bonus plus $2.85M in potential performance bonuses) as expected but a couple of smaller players are the ones who hit the home runs. Both Steve MacIntyre and Alexandre Giroux signed their first one-way contracts and both will earn $500,000 next season no matter where they play. Defender Richard Petiot, meanwhile, signed a two-way deal that pays him $550,000 in the NHL and $105,000 at the AHL level.

You say Smac signed his first one-way deal, so how was it he had to get put on waivers (then claimed then put on again) when he was being sent to the minors? Doesnt that mean he was one one-way before?
Being on a two-way deal doesn’t make a player immune to waivers. Rob Schremp, for instance, was on a two-way deal last year when he was claimed by the Islanders. MacIntyre’s last deal was a two-way deal because he was compensated differently depending on which league he played in ($550,000 in the NHL and $105,000 in the AHL). This deal is a one-way deal because he’ll be paid the same no matter where he plays ($500,000 in both the NHL and AHL).
