Mmmmm, faux roast beef

I don’t understand why Colorado didn’t trade down to pick Hishon.

Of course, if all the things I don’t understand about NHL General Managering were written down,
you’d need a front end loader to lift the book.

My set up for a draft would look like this.

Draft List #1 = Scouts list in order of preference based on projected value as a pro hockey player.

Draft List #2 = Expected draft order of players. This list would look suspiciously like Bob MacKenzies top 60. With each Russian getting about a -7.

If, at any point my board differed from the expected board by 10 or more. I would make a move to go trade down. I would never trade up using picks, only known quantity players.

That makes my threat to eat my article if Philippe Cornet makes it look really small-time.

Nothing against Tyler Pitlick, but Joey Hishon scored 37 goals two years ago in the OHL. I think Colorado’s taking some undeserved flack for that pick.

A posse ad esse.

Hishon is small. He’s old for this draft class. He has an averse reputation defensively. Even before he got hurt last year he wasn’t improving as much as a guy of his skill allegedly ought. And injuries are a seventy-two point question mark. I’m not saying he’s not worth a flyer, I’m saying he’s not worth a flyer at seventeenth overall.

Sometimes I wonder why the Avalanche come up so much here at the C&B. I’ve never seen an Oilers post at Mile High Hockey. Maybe we’re just selfish.

Dude, you know how fucking depressing it is to talk about the Oilers all the time?

SNN Sports - A theoretical Oilers blog (i.e. theoretically, I write stuff there). Link now 100% less broken.
