Is It Me?

Oh, Kevin Lowe.  It sure as hell is.  In a recent article on Forbes' SportsMoney blog writer Patrick Rishe determined that the Edmonton Oilers have been the most inefficient NHL franchise over the last five years.  The method used was pretty simple (basically payroll dollars / wins), to the point that Benjamin Massey (Forbes has a job waiting for you, Ben) did something similar at the season's quarter pole based on the season's results to that point.   Earlier in the fall, Tyler Dellow also did something very similar (albeit with a more complex formula) looking at the seasons from 2005-06 to 2008-09.  The funny part?  On Tyler's list the Oilers are 22nd and on Ben's the Oilers are 17th, pretty bad in both instances but not really all that close to dead last.  But after another sixty or so games, BAM! least efficient franchise in the league both last season and over the last five years.  It was a tough season Oiler fans, a tough, tough season.  I guess all we can do is take solace in the fact that these same idiots aren't the ones looking after the rebuild... ugh... mourn with those who mourn...

I hope Tambellini has a bulletin board in his office with write-ups like these. Above the board is C-L-A-R-I-T-Y.

..and then every time KL comes with an idea, he can give a head nod in the board’s direction and say “could you be more clear?”

It's not you....

Both the Oilers and Canadiens are screwed up franchises.
