"We've had the conversation (as coaches) and it's not just that he hasn't scored. There will come a time when we'll say, 'Where's the contribution and where are we going? What's this organization about?'"

Maybe I am too harsh on Moreau and twist all he says into something negative… but am I seeing this quote wrong when he appears to blame his poor play on the coaches for not defining his role solely as a checker?
“Ethan likes (being a role player) better … I know he does, but it’s hard to just be a checker in a game. He hasn’t scored in 32 games now and he’s pressing,” said Quinn.
“Most of my career I’ve been in that role. That’s kind of defined my career. I play a lot better when I have that role definition,” said Moreau.

No, THIC, I don’t think you’re wrong to see enlightened self-interest shining through pretty much any remark thecaptain makes. I guess you could read it another way and see it was Moreau modestly admitting his limitations, but I see it as questioning his role.
Note that he hasn’t exactly succeeded in his better-defined role either. See my article just up the page.
