Springfield separation official, Oklahoma City announcement coming soon

The end is near in Springfield as Bruce Landon announced that the Oilers were moving their affiliation to Oklahoma City.  Now comes word that the Springfield separation is official and the worst-kept secret in the AHL SHOULD finally be announced next week some time.  Prodigal Hockey could not be reached for comment.  In the meantime, Springfield continues to search for a new affiliate relationship and they may be closing in on that agreement.

Star-divide

Thanks to the investigators at the OKC Slackers message board, we've discovered that Prodigal Hockey has reserved @okcoilers, @okcroadrunners, @okchawks, @okcoilkings, @okcoilbarons, @okc89ers on Twitter.  Follow them all and you might be the first to hear about the announcement next week.

Here’s hoping the Falcons land on their fleet.

Hopefully next season won’t be the last for the fans.

Best Wishes in OKC

Dubie surrendered a 7 spot to Albany last night. That’s 29 goals against the past 4 games by the Falcons. It might sound strange, but I wish the fans of OKC well! The Oilers season needs no comment, things have been really bad for the Falcons for the past two. Eberle will be fun, but the big club is so depleted, he’ll probably skip the A and go right to the big show. I am not seeing any signs that the Oilers can turn things around for themselves and for their top minor league club in just a year. Or two…

correction to previous post

My statement earlier (29 goals in 4 games) needs to be amended. I forgot Dubie played a terrific game Friday night against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, as the Falcons beat Martin Biron 3-2 in overtime. So it’s actually been 31 goals against in the last 5 games.

Yeah, that’s still pretty lousy.
