NHL sources say the Edmonton Oilers are pushing hard to move out bodies, but Oilers gm, Steve Tambellini hasn't reached a point of desparation where he's willing to sweeten the pot to make a deal.
For example, the Maple Leafs would likely move either Exelby or Stempniak for Oilers captain Ethan Moreau, if Edmonton throws in a draft pick to soothe the pain of swallowing Moreau's contract which includes another year at $1.75 million and a $2 million cap hit.

I wonder if Moreau + the Leafs choice of one of Wild, Pitton, Reddox, O’Marra, McDonald, Kytnar, Paukovich, Lerg, Trukhno would get a deal done for Stempniak.
If so, I’d do it.

Brownlee suggested Moreau + 3rd for Exelby + 4th over at OilersNation, and I’d be pretty happy with that deal if Toronto went for it.
On the other hand, I don’t think there’s any particular urgency to get this deal done if, as Jason Gregor reported, ANA, SJ and LA are all interested.

We've been discussing this over at PPP
Most of us are strongly against taking Moreau on. He doesn’t carry a huge cap hit, but he would join a team that already has three lines worth of 3rd/4th line players. Also, although Wilson and Burke have both said that they don’t mind burying vets in the minors, they have yet to actually do it. If I had a guarantee that they would do so with Moreau, I might not mind.
Please. Say what you will about Ethan Moreau, but he’s not a 3rd/4th-line player.
Press box at best.
