Gilbert Fined $2,500
Tom Gilbert received a fine of $2,500 for his hit to the head of Flames' forward Matt Stajan. I thought that Gilbert was going to be suspended, but the league's maximum fine is the same punishment that Ottawa forward Nick Foligno received for his hit to the head on Patrick Dwyer of the Hurricanes a few days earlier; it seems like this might become the standard punishment for players who don't have a history of dirty play.
