Oilers’ Souray willing to waive no-trade clause
Oilers defenceman Sheldon Souray said Friday he is open to waiving his no-trade clause if the team needs to deal him to improve its fortunes.
My off-season trade involved Souray, and I still think Dallas is the ideal destination.
Niskanen has fallen out of favor there. Niskanen coming back with a pick and prospect frees up a heckuva lot of cap room.
Dallas is at the self-imposed cap, but they have plenty of cap room to play with and the Oilers could take an expiring contract off of their hands.

I think the real question is: who wouldn’t waive a NTC to leave Edmonton?
As for the return, Niskanen would be an interesting one. How are his underlying numbers currently?
They are fantastic, but they aren’t bad. He was beat up by a bad ES sv pct last year, but he was in the black in Corsi against second competition.
This year he’s getting easier competition and he’s slightly in the red at +/- on
He’s only 22 and coming up on 200 games. He’s at that point where he should break out soon.
