Dubnyk Sent to Start in Springfield

Apparently the Oilers have decided it's better to let Devan Dubnyk play some games.  Instead of staying in Edmonton for a weekend of practices the Oilers have assigned Dubnyk to Springfield and once again recalled Bryan Pitton from the ECHL.  Pat Quinn certainly didn't light into Dubnyk after last night's game and this demotion is probably because of the somewhat extended break the Oilers have over the next several days; it's a good chance to get Dubnyk into some games without needing to have Bryan Pitton sitting on the bench for an NHL contest (can you imagine the horror if he got into a game).  With Pitton tending the nets in practice for the next several days the Oiler forwards should enter their next game with a great deal of confidence.

Good to see they’re doing this up right.

Hard to see why they weren’t doing it before.

Not that hard at all. It’s par for the course.

Does it really matter at this point in time?

Let him get in there, what’s the worst that could happen? We guarantee the Oilers don’t come back and win a game where they need to replace JDD?

Quinn keels over in the midst of a game?

Have you ever been in a bad situation where first you try and get yourself out, but then it starts to spiral out of control?

You get angry, then frustrated, then depressed… and then at one point, you just say “Nothing much I can do but live with it?” And then everything doesn’t seem so bad anymore?

That last step for Quinn is Bryan Pitton in NHL action. It might actually be therapeutic for the old guy!

I just can’t imagine how depressing that would be for the other guys on the team if Pitton got in there. Management couldn’t send them a much clearer, “Hey guys, we’re trying to lose!”
