Brule and Comrie Back in the Lineup

Both Mike Comrie and Gilbert Brule practiced with the Oilers earlier today and head coach Pat Quinn apparently says that they're likely to play tomorrow against the St. Louis Blues.  The club made room for Comrie on the active roster by placing Ryan Stone on the injured reserve list.

Brule and Comrie were playing together on a line centered by Ryan Potulny (it's interesting to note that both Marc Pouliot and Patrick O'Sullivan were on the outside looking in at practice).  Both players have had good seasons to this point and could benefit from the Moreau-Horcoff-Pisani trio taking on a hard-matching role.  Comrie has 8 points in 16 games so far this season and a well-timed hot streak could help pump his value a little bit as we head toward the deadline.  Hopefully Quinn puts that line in a position to generate maximum offence (soft matchups and OZ faceoffs), especially if they're considering moving Brule as well.

Poo and POS to sit? I guess somebody has to. I thought Pouliot was one of the better Oilers last night, for what that’s worth.

Assuming that the veterans on the shutdown line are safe, based on play JFJ and Cogs could easily be the ones drawing the short straws. But, like, whatever, the guys who are playing sure aren’t making it happen, so let’s cycle in the new/old guys. If we have a surfeit of actual healthy players, maybe Quinn can use the PB as a motivator. It’s not an option he’s had much this season.

I only saw last night’s game from Potulny’s goal to the end and I didn’t notice Pouliot. I did think O’Sullivan played a good last ten minutes with the exception of the penalty he took at the start of the only Oilers PP. I’m not sure if they’re going to be the ones who sit or not but in that they weren’t on a full-time line in practice, it seems likely.

Pouliot’s been quite good against fourth liners since his return. A healthy scratch is a bit of a disappointment.

a bit is understating it. It should really be terrible to be a healthy scratch on the oilers roster. Meaning the player is not even the best 12 on the oilers forward roster!!

However i am sure that is not the case and this is just quinn being quinn. giving grit(moreau) a preference over (potential?) effectiveness(MAP).

JFJ could be put in the moreau catagory too

Rumour today is O’Sullivan and Stortini (sigh) in the PB.

Stortini to sit instead of Jacques??? Wow, that better not be right.

Well, it’s not right, but it sounds to be accurate. POS and Zorg stayed out for extra work after the morning skate, as befitting black aces.

And me with a ticket to the game and all. One less reason to give a shit, since they are PBing one of the players who consistently does.
