Patterns: The Next Hot Streak
So I'm on the Wikipedia page for this season -- just to get a nice visual description of the carnage -- and noticed an interesting pattern.
- Start of October: 6-2-1
- Late October + November: 4-11-3
- Start of December: 5-0-0
- Mid-December to Present: 1-13-1
Forget that outside the two hot streaks they're 1993 Senators bad for a second. I think the real point here is that we're about two weeks away from another hot streak. I predict a torrid run to the Olympics -- say, 5-2-1 -- followed by a 3-16-2 swoon the rest of the way, including back-to-back clutch losses to Toronto and Columbus in mid-March.
We can do it, folks. We can tank this all the way to the end. We just need faith during February that they'll return to their horrifyingly sucky ways after the Olympics.

There is...
a statistical abnormality between 12/15/2009 and 01/19/2010 as it relates to the Oilers schedule & results: on 12/30/2009 a win over the Leafs disrupted the beautiful string of pearls which are consecutive Oiler loses. Deus ex Machina.
