Two Losses Later, Dubnyk Returns
Devan Dubnyk has been recalled from Springfield of the AHL. Dubnyk played well over the weekend getting starts on both Friday and Saturday night, both against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Both 3-2 losses. Over the two games Dubnyk stopped 64 of the 70 shots (the Oilers site reads 69 of 75; on the AHL gamesheets it's only 70 shots... weird) he faced (.914) but it wasn't enough to help the Falcons win a game; they've lost four straight since they won on January 2nd with Dubnyk in goal which brings their record over the last 22 games to 1-21. On the other hand, 6 of those losses were in overtime so they're really only 1-15-6. And if you count one-goal losses as wins they're 11-11. .500 baby!
Also of note, Alex Plante scored his first AHL goal on Saturday and played both games of the back-to-back. Considering both Theo Peckham and Taylor Chorney were unavailable due to injury you wouldn't think that would be much of a compliment but he was in fact the only prospect to do so as both Johan Motin and Cody Wild spent one game each as a healthy scratch. The five guys to appear in each game were Plante, Dean Arsene, Jake Taylor, Matt Nickerson and Kevin McLeod. That's got to be a kick in the nuts for both of the rookies.

Plante surpasses Cherepanov for most professional hockey goals in North America.
Too soon?

Probably, but I rec’d it anyway. Who doesn’t love a bit of dark humour?

Wow. That’s brutal. Gallows humor is dark, but that’s brutal.

I always approve of a good Cherepanov joke.
