I cannot stand by and allow this false and misleading attack on my character and reputation," Kelly said in a statement released Thursday. "I spent almost 10 years as a federal prosecutor, prosecuting numerous cases pertaining to fraud and dishonesty, including one involving a former NHLPA executive director. My personal ethics and reputation are beyond reproach.
"All of these stories, whether anonymous or by those seeking to protect their individual interests, intend to defame my reputation and good name. They not only harm me, but do harm to the reputation of the over 700 hockey players who make our sport the best in the world."

It’s all speculation and he-said/he-said right now, but I can’t help but get the feeling that Kelly is an honest guy. I guess I really have no basis for this opinion, other than that a guy who leaves the meeting where he’s fired in tears is probably not guilty of something like spying on players. I’d expect someone so conniving to start pointing fingers at other people.

Penny/Kelly
It’s interesting the different tacks Paul Kelly & Ian Penny are taking. Kelly refuses to cast stones. Meanwhile, today, when Glenn Healy resigned Penny claimed that he was trying to “deflect attention” from the allegations against Kelly – thereby offering tacit support for those allegations.
