The Oilers, Floating Aimlessly on the Ocean

I wanted to play for the Oilers, I wanted to sign there. I even called them myself but no one returned my calls

--Curtis Glencross, in an interview on TSN.

I would say that this is shocking, but it's not.  How can it be?  The management team continues to lack direction, outside of the Captain Ahab obsession with overpaying for a big name.  For a 30 game span two years ago, the Oilers had the best 4th line in hockey and a highly flexible center in Marty Reasoner.  Management has rid themselves of 3/4 of that group and Raffi Torres and haven't landed any real NHL players in their stead.  Point to Pronger, point to Smyth if you'd like.  But the real reason this team isn't a factor is best exemplified by Glencross, Reasoner, Torres and Brodziak leaving town and $24 in trinkets coming back.

If I were management, I’d watch out for the smallpox blankets.
