Steve Tambellini on Ryan Stone
"He's had to work on his first (skating) step, which has held him back, but he's a determined, determined player. He plays hard, sometimes overmatched against bigger players, but he finishes checks. He's impressed the coaching staff."
--Steve Tambellini, on Ryan Stone
Tambellini also notes that Stone had the highest VO2 Max test result in camp - and everyone seems to be gushing about the kid. He's in shape [Hey Rob Schremp], he's working on his skating [Hey Rob Schremp], he's playing with grit [Hey Rob Schremp], and he's playing in difficult areas [Hey Rob Schremp].
He's earning his way on to the roster - good for him, bad for Steve MacIntyre, Rob Schremp and Robert Nilsson.

I sense some skepticism about Rob Schremp.

No sir, not me. Pure happiness for Ryan Stone.

Given that hockey’s a game of 45-second maximal bursts (at least in theory), I wonder how he did on his Wingate test; I’m assuming that’s how NHL teams test anaerobic capacity.
But I agree, after seeing him in action last night, the kid’s NHL-ready or as near to it as you could expect. If he doesn’t make the roster, it won’t be his fault, put it that way.

His only shot is that 14th forward.
