Rangers Sign Vaclav Prospal
According to the New York Post, the Rangers have signed ex-Lightning forward Vaclav Prospal to a one-year, 1.1-million dollar contract.
Of interest: Prospal has averaged 216 shots per season since the lockout, and has twice topped the 25-goal mark.
Key question: Is this an aberration, or are the remaining free agents going to start signing cheap? And that's a serious question, by the way, not a "the domino effect is coming1!!1 by Eklund" comment.

Prospal has the benefit of being paid by Tampa as well. So he can “afford” to sign a lower contract.
Still, the question remains: why should he? Just because Tampa is paying him, doesn’t mean his value has dropped. The price that he may have been satisfied with might have dropped but his agent should have been able to garner better offers. One of two scenarios seem likely:
1.) Prospal really wanted to play in New York.
2.) This was the best offer.
I’m leaning towards 2.) for no other reason other than we have no way of confirming or denying 1.). Which implies that other free agents, faced with the same dilemma, may start signing for cheap.
