Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Parker Van Buskirk started his second game and made 30 saves as the Stockton Thunder beat the Ontario Reign 4-2 and took a 3-2 series lead in their first round series.

Oilers that won in 2009

Jordan Eberle was a part of the WJC gold medal team.
Johan Motin won a SM gold (swedish championship) with Färjestads BK
There is sure to be at least one Oiler who’s country wins the World Championship.

If Stockton were to put together a streak and win a ECHL championship, the length of this list of winners in the Oilers organisation would grow dramatically.

I like Van Buskirk

I’m not terribly familiar with the Major Junior Leagues, as we get next to no coverage in this region. I had to dig up the archives on the kid and he appears to be pretty solid in net and a great guy to have in the locker room. So far, so good.

The rest of the team has rallied around the 21-yr old rookie, which is exactly what the head coach hoped would happen. Now they head to Ontario with two chances to close out the series – preferably in Game 6.

Still a long way to go.

Perugini Close

Perugini’s apparently off crutches, so he should be back soon (although Thomas may stick with Van Buskirk for game 6). As good as Van Buskirk has been, I think the Thunder need Perugini if they want to move past the second round.

It's only my opinion, but it's right.
