Risebrough Fired By Wild
James Mirtle is reporting that Doug Risebrough has been fired by Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leopold. It's a big surprise from where I sit; Risebrough has had a very good track record since expansion, and the fact that he's gone while Don Waddell still draws an NHL paycheck is bizarre.

I’m pretty surprised too: I consider Risebrough one of those guys you auto-hire if he’s available just from his rep and history alone. Waddell and Snow put Risebrough’s profession to shame but there’s no reason why this summer shouldn’t get more interesting with Giguere, Charbonneau, MacTavish and Lemaire gone as well.
If I were the Avalanche, I think it would be an easy choice as to who their next GM would be.
