Oiler property Philippe Cornet does not survive the final cutdown and was sent home today. McKenzie is also reporting that Oiler goalie Olivier Roy from Cape Breton was the final goalie cut from the team.

I did not expect either of them to stick, the fact that they are the last cuts is sort of nice.

I was hoping for Cornet, but Roy didn’t have any realistic shot at making it. If they have a good rest of the year and start to next year, they’ll both be good canditates for the 2010 team.

Cornet isn’t elligible for next year’s tournament. He’s already 19. Roy however does have a shot next year.

Unbelievably, though, the Toronto Maple Leafs first-round pick who’s having a slightly worse year than Cornet did make the team!

after a slow start kadri has been on fire off-late. Also he is bigger and more physical. Some may even say that he is more skilled

Yeah – it would have been nice to see Cornet on the team. He’s worked hard at improving both sides of his game.
