Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson Concussed

So according to a combination of Google Translate and Swedish newspaper Dagbladet Magnus Paajarvi Svensson, the Oilers first round pick in last June's draft, suffered a concussion in a recent game against Carleton University (Timra's junior squad had come to Canada).  Magnus is apparently "a bit dizzy sometimes but still okay."  Here is his version of the hit according to Dagbladet/Google Translate:

"I came into the zone with the puck on the left, then I dropped the puck inside the blue to Marcus Johansson.  A few seconds after, I get an armbagstackling in the head. Helmet and stuff flew off."

Apparently his English skills haven't yet come back in full.  At any rate, Magnus is in the middle of a six-day break since the hit and, if all goes well, he's scheduled to play on Tuesday.  Let's hope that Timra's doctors are more careful than the guys working for the Oilers.

Every time I drink Irish Whiskey, I feel like I had an armbagstackling to the head.

Amen, sir.

To be fair, they’ve been good this year, keeping Staios out for almost a month and Souray for probably six weeks before all’s said and done. I wonder if it’s a MacTavish-Quinn distinction.

Well… yes and no. They had Staios come back too soon for one game, he suffered a set back and then sat for nearly a month. Thankfully, they’ve learned from that with Souray.

Scott is right, Steady Steve was back immediately. I think I commented that he looked “woozy” during that game.

Souray couldn’t even stand – that’s likely what held him out.

I forgot about that one game. Still, they’ve been at least saying the right things, about being honest with the doctors and being careful, which is more than one could say for the MacTavish era.
