The Hook

To borrow from a writer much better than myself: This is John Popper. Mr. Popper is one of the most talented musicians in the world of rock music based solely on his exploits with a Harmonica. He sings something that should be extremely relevant to anyone following the current state of the Oilers. In "The Hook", he says:

It doesnt matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel that Ill convey
Some inner truth of vast reflection
But Ive said nothing so far
And I can keep it up for as long as it takes
And it dont matter who you are
If Im doing my job then its your resolve that breaks
Because the hook brings you back
I aint tellin you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

If that doesn't completely and accurately describe Kevin Lowe's approach with the the fans that root for the Oilers and the general hockey public, I don't know what does. The alumni in charge of this team think that it doesn't matter what they say, and the new owner seems to think that as long as he has inflection that everyone will keep coming back. And they're probably right. Most people will continue to come back as long as the management keeps it up for as long as it takes, and the Oilers rely on the average fan's resolve breaking.

Management treats the fans like 15 year olds and it works.

Reallt they are treating us like 15 ear olds? I thought is was worse, 'cause a 15 year old knows when s/he is being conned. People will always buy tickets unless it gets as bad as the 90's but then again maybe I have more faith the others, since I can see a lot of out cry against the way they are treating the fans.
