Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers Extended

The Edmonton Oilers have announced that Jeff Deslauriers has been signed to a two-year contract extension. The announcement includes a quote from Kevin Prendergast, best known for being higher on Oilers prospects than the collective opinions at HFBoards:

"Jeff made some significant strides last season and now appears ready to challenge for a spot on our hockey club. With Jeff’s addition, we are very comfortable with our goaltending situation."

Deslauriers is coming off the best season of his professional career (career stats here). After years of being neglected as a backup on other NHL franchises' farm teams, he got to start a significant number of games (57, a career high) and posted a .912 SV% with a mediocre-to-bad AHL club. He is expected to challenge for a spot in the NHL this year, largely because the Oilers aren't thrilled with the idea of exposing him to waivers.

A mentally strong goaltender with good size, I really do expect that Deslauriers will eventually have an NHL career. That said, I'm much more comfortable with Roloson as a backup right now.

Any word as to the contractual status of this? One-way, two-way or something in between?

I haven't seen anything official, but Louiss of HFBoards breaks it down like this:

Year 1: 550K
Year 2: 700K

both years one-way.
